On November 22, 2024, the Indian community of Metro Vancouver came together to celebrate Hindu Heritage Month in Port Moody. Organized by the Bharatiya Kala Evam Sahitya Parishad (BKSP) with the support of local Indian community groups including ATI Vancouver, the event was a resounding success, drawing attendees from across the region.
The evening was a profound exploration of the holistic wisdom of Sanatan Dharma, emphasizing its role in fostering physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. The speakers inspired attendees to embrace this ancient way of life as a pathway to enlightenment. Practical steps were highlighted, including incorporating pranayama, yoga, an Ayurvedic diet, and studying the Bhagvad Gita, all of which connect us to India’s rich and timeless living heritage.
An esteemed panel of speakers Dr. Ajay Garg, Dr. Arun Garg, Giri Chandra, Dr. Sandeep Jassal, Prakriti Hemmige, and Megha Ghai, offered valuable insights into how the teachings of Sanatan Dharma can guide us toward a healthier and more fulfilling life.
The evening also featured delicious food sponsored by Agra Sweets & Restaurant located in Burnaby, which added a delightful touch to the enriching discussions.
Hindu Heritage Month 2024 in Port Moody was a testament to the vibrant cultural and spiritual traditions of the Indian community in Metro Vancouver. It celebrated not only heritage but also the wisdom that continues to inspire and uplift generations.
Community builder Neeraj Kumar, who was instrumental in initial planning of this event with the BKSP founders, Dr Ajay Garg & Anupma Garg emphasized the need of more such events next year in 2025.
