Ms Susmita Mishra, one of the organizers said they are expecting about 400 people at this Chariot Festival. Sri Jagannath Cultural Society is a volunteer group who took the initiative to organize Rath Yatra in Langley for the first-time. Their aim is to organize more spiritual events for the Indian community in Metro Vancouver in future.

Financial Support:

A Fundraising page has been created on GoFundMe platform to raise funds to organize the festival. To achieve this vision, we have various expenses essential for the festival’s success including vibrant decorations, Prasadam for the devotees, & other logistical necessities for the festival. We have almost reached the 50% mark of our target and we are certain that with the blessings of Lord Jagannath and community support we will reach our target soon said the organizer of the event.

What is Rath Yatra?

Rath Yatra, also known as the Chariot Festival, is a significant Hindu celebration that dates back thousands of years. This vibrant and joyous festival marks the annual journey of Lord Jagannath, along with his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra, in magnificently decorated chariots. The festival holds immense religious and cultural importance in India, particularly in Odisha.
