As the sun gracefully begins its northward journey, marking the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, Vancouver’s vibrant Indian community unites in joyous celebration. This festival, synonymous with the transition of the sun into the zodiac sign of Capricorn, holds a special place in the hearts of Indians, symbolizing new beginnings, prosperity, and the triumph of light over darkness.
Join the Biggest Indian Celebration of the Makar Sankranti festival on 13th January 2024, Saturday in Surrey, BC from 5:30 PM organized by Bharatiya Entertainment Arts Culture Outreach Network (BEACON)
Manu Nellutla, one of the event organizers said it is going to be a multicultural and multilingual event with arts, entertainment, food and fun. Sankranti, Pongal, Bihu and Lohri are different names of the same festival celebrated in different parts of India. The event organizers further said “We might be divided by our languages, but united by our cultural roots.”
Get early bird tickets at Eventbrite or www.ticketspi.com. Early Bird ticket sale ends on January 1st, 2024. The organizers prefer tickets purchase through TicketsPi website since it has less taxes and for that reason attendees would have to pay less for the tickets.
