About Terry Fox:

Terry Fox was a Canadian athlete, humanitarian, and cancer research activist. His right leg was amputated in 1977 after he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, though he continued to run using an artificial leg.

The Port Coquitlam native dipped his prosthetic leg in the Atlantic Ocean near St. John’s, N.L. on April 12, 1980, with the aim of running across Canada and finishing at the Pacific Ocean in Victoria, B.C. He was forced to abandon his journey at Thunder Bay, Ont., because cancer had spread to other parts of his body.

About South Asian Collective Society:

The South Asian Collective Society is created with the intention to forge active community interaction and a sense of belonging with South Asian culture through cultural exchange & events, recreation, sports, health & wellness and professional development for community members of all ages, seniors inclusive.
