India in Metro Vancouver is a meetup group created for the Vancouver Indian Community. The group was launched by Neeraj Kumar in 2016 as a place for connecting expats from India coming to Vancouver. Neeraj wanted to help newcomers from India coming to Vancouver and provide them a platform where they can connect with like minded people. The group also has a WhatsApp group called Vancouver Indian Forum where Indian newcomers in Vancouver can get help and receive lots of information. The Group was initially started using Meetup App, then soon after it was also created on Facebook.
Neeraj, the founder of the group said the idea of this group is to get together and make new friends from same heritage, network with Indian professionals in Vancouver, and get help from other members, discuss Indian culture, organize Bollywood themed events to bring the members of the Vancouver Indian community together. The group organizes social & cultural events for Indians in Vancouver. Neeraj told “we try to organize all types of events including Kids, Family Get Togethers, Potluck, Yoga, Mediation, Professional Information Sessions just to name a few”.
Indians living in Metro Vancouver which includes following cities: Burnaby, Coquitlam, Delta, Langley, Maple Ridge, New Westminster, North Vancouver, Pitt Meadows, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Richmond, Vancouver, West Vancouver, White Rock or nearby cities can join the group as per the description of the Meetup group “India in Metro Vancouver“.
