Manasvini Hindi Cultural Society celebrated International Hindi Day with a special event organized on January 28 2024 in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia Canada.
A highlight of this event was the book reviews and readings by local Hindi literateurs of a newly published Hindi collection of poetry and stories penned by Shikha Porwal. The book titled ‘Manasvini’ is a poignant reflection of the contrasting realities and romance of everyday life depicted with a colorful literary lens. The writings contain a myriad of moods and emotions, some joyful and others melancholic. The book is an ode to the optimism, love and hopefulness that women all over the world bring to their everyday matter of fact lives as they juggle many tasks and tackle many challenges.
The event was attended by the Hindi Lovers in Metro Vancouver. Manasvini was founded by two energetic women Shikha Porwal & Asmita Lawrence during the pandemic in order to keep the community engaged when everyone was locked in their homes. After doing various successful online sessions the society is now doing in-person events also.
The event invited members to participate in fun team games to enhance their learning about the various nuances of Hindi phrases, proverbs and catchwords. Also attendees used creative, descriptive language to introduce each other and made new connections among each other. The games were conducted by Manasvini Founders Shikha Porwal and Asmita Lawrence.
Beautiful gift hampers were handed to winners of the team games courtesy of local business sponsors Neeraj Kumar Real Estate Team, Anil Kumar Mortgages, Amit Sipani Financial Services, Shashi Kumar Educational Services and Neupeak.
Delectable refreshments served with Chai and the cheerful bonhomie among the fifty odd attendees made for a very pleasant afternoon.
Manasvini has been actively promoting Hindi language & related cultural activities in Metro Vancouver. Manasvini is a wonderful platform for new writers to develop their literary skills in Hindi and to network with other women to share their thoughts & expressions.
