Vivek Canada has begun a new local program, called Dawn to Dusk. The series of events & workshops will be organized by volunteers of Vivek Canada in Surrey, BC & surrounding areas of Metro Vancouver.
The founder of Vivek Canada, Dr Harmesh Sidher shared some of the features of the Dawn to Dusk Program:
- This program promotes volunteerism and well being among South Asian youth (between the ages of 15-25) and seniors (55+)
- Pair seniors with youth through out the project, to build a sense of community and provide senior’s the ability to share their culture and knowledge with others
- Promote well-being and support social inclusion of South Asian seniors

Participants will meet once a month from Spring 2024 to Spring 2025 and only need to register once. Registration for senior participants is now closed, however registration for youth participants is still open.
The first event by Vivek Canada will take place at Shanti Niketan Bhavan located at 8321 140 St, Surrey, BC V3W 5K9 on Saturday, April 27, 2024; 5pm-7:30pm. Please register using the link above.
“Traditionally, elders share their life experiences with younger generations and pass along teachings through various social activities. We hope the program will bridge the generational gap between seniors and youth as they participate in fun and educational activities together.”
